Anime is the Japanese shortened word for ‘animation’. In Japan, anime is a rather popular form of entertainment, most of the time anime comes from manga - Japanese comics, it also comes in the form of TV shows, movies, as well as direct to DVD releases. The quality of animation in anime far surpasses that of American cartoons, but unlike cartoons anime aren’t just for kids there are many genres for all age groups - men to women, boys to girls, romance, fashion, sports and more. It’s a huge industry in Japan, and very, very popular.

Anime is becoming one of the most watch forms of cartoons around the world, from DVDs to Cosplay; anime conventions where people make costumes and dress up as their favorite anime characters. Anime is growing not just in popularity but in the world and show we see today. You can now see some anime based shows in America like Nickelodeon’s Avatar the Last Airbender; you can also find anime for adults every Monday and Tuesday night on Sci-Fi channel.

Sailor Moon: Sailor Moon is about Serena Tsukino and her 5 friends who one day become Sailor Moon, and the Sailor Scouts. Now they must protect the world and fight for justice against the evil minions of the Negaverse.


Kodocha: Kodocha is an anime about an 11 year old child superstar Sana Kurata enjoying life to the fullest and doing everything she can to stop the ruckus that upsets her life and studies.


Azumanga Daioh: Azumanga Daioh follows the lives of six female high school students and their two teachers. From the first day of high school to their graduation, know matter what happens in their lives in the end they can always laugh about it.
