Teen book series are all about the drama of being a teen from the curl life of high school to back stabbing best friends. But, Ann Brashares created a book series for teen that did not have to deal with drama high school, but the drama of life and people that help you though all the hard times, with her remarkable novel “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.” Soon the book was followed by “The second summer” of the Sisterhood and then “Girls in Pants: The “third summer of the Sisterhood and lastly “Forever in blue: The fourth summer” of the Sisterhood. The story of the first book was simple Carmen, Bridget, Tibby, and Lena four best friends since birth who one day find a pair of jeans who magical fit all them differently built as they are perfectly. So, they decided to share pants during their first summer part, the pants would travel between them and give them each strength and courage to be apart.

Ann Brashares born on 1967 had a love for books ever since her childhood, she thought of books a way to escape and go to a world only you imaged. She took a year off college (where she was studding philosophy) to work as an editor. Working as editor taught her more and more about how books worked, what kept you wanting to read them, and what made a good story. Ann had a conversion with a friend (which she dedicate the first book to) about clothing, friends, and sharing. She wondered if it was possible that a pair of clothing could hold are feeling and memories, and in that every conversion is where Ann came up with the idea for the traveling pants. Quickly after the conversion she took three months of work and wrote the first novel, the rest is history.

On June 1st, 2005 Warner Bros. Pictures took this magical story and made it come to life on the big screen with the feature film “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.” The movie had the same plot as book, but like most movies based on books there were a few minor changes. The film stared America Ferrera (Ugly Betty) as Carmen, Amber Tamblyn (Joan of Arcadia) as Tibby, Blake Lively (Gossip Girl) as Bridget, and Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girl) as Lena, and was a hit at the boxes office. Now, four years later Carmen, Tibby, Bridget, and Lena are back in “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2,” the film is a combination of books two, three, and four, and will be the last movie in this amazing story. The film will hit theaters in August 2008 and is sure to be just as amazing as the first.

I have to say it will be hard to say goodbye to these remarkable girls and there magic pair of pants, but we may not have to, in an interview back in January 2008 Ann released a statement saying “4 books was always the plan. But you never know maybe I will come back to these characters maybe I’ll have to if people want to read more about them.” So with the huge amount of fans wanting her to keep the sisterhood living on forever and has decided to bring a new sisterhood to life in her new book “3 Willows: The Sisterhood Grows.” The book will follow three girls entering the same high school as the original sisterhood (Carmen, Tibby, Bridget, and Lena), unfortunately there are no magic pants in this story but it’s safe to say anyone who loves “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” is sure to love “3 Willows.
