By Editor • Jul 1st, 2009 • Category: Features, Health, Fitness, and BodySummer blues got you down? No beach in town (Fort Taylor Beach Key West, Galveston Beach, ect.), or is a summer trip out of reach? Well don’t be sad Sparkling Stars has got away to turn that frown up side down, we have put together some great ways to help make you summer more fun and beat that summer boredom that comes around this time every year. Below you will find ways to enjoy the summer to its fullest and the rest of your freedom, because once August comes its back to school shopping, and worrying that hits, so let’s have all the fun we can now.
Summer Reading: If your like me and love to read then summer reading is the thing for you, most libraries host summer reading contest for kids; 6 months to 18 years of age, where you sign up, read and when cool prizes, its easy and fun just the way I like my summer to be. However if your town, or city doesn’t have summer reading make your own goal; let say you avow to read three books this summer, and once you finish each book treat yourself to something;
like a bowl of ice cream, or a new pair of earrings, you’ll feel happy you complete your goal and that summer laziness didn’t stand in your way.
If you are looking for good summer reads here are some great choices; try you hand at the Twilight book series if you haven’t read this love story twist it should be first on you reading list (most enjoyed by True Blood and Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans), The Hills Lauren Conrad recently released a teen novel “LA Candy,” about a young girl living in LA and suddenly get the chance to star on her own reality series, as you can tell the book is loosely based on Conrad life (Recommend by fans of The Hills and Gossip Girl). Also you can always get head start on school by reading a book off that summer reading list your teachers gave you, I know scary thought, but hey it my just help you be one step a head this fall when starts back up and when everyone else is reading a book you already have you’ll thank me.
Movie Madness: Summer movies are the best you’ll get all year (except for the 2009 November release of New Moon), so live out you summer in the air condition building of a movie theater. Some summer movies you cannot miss are, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen; part one was a block buster hit this one is sure to be just as good. Nevertheless if action isn’t your thing try the animated film “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs,” grab a tissue for the family drama “My Sister’s Keeper,” or a film all teens will enjoy this summer is the romantic comedy staring Hayden Panettiere, I Love You Beth Cooper. However the most a waited film of the summer would have to be “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,”
the film is the six of J. K. Rowling book series and is excepted to make big bucks in the theaters.
Also if there are not in films that interest you in theaters this summer, then pop some popcorn, put on your favorite PJs, get some of your favorite films, and invite your friends over for a movie night sleep over. You can watch all your favorite films or pick a theme; like a horror night rent films like Psycho, or Friday the 13th the original and the 2009 remake, do a cheerleading theme watch all four of the “Bring It On” movies, or love stories watch movies like “A Cinderella Story,” “The Note Book,” “Never Been Kissed.” Trust me summer will go by in the blink of an eye and you’ll enjoy every second of it.
Fit and Active: Another way to spend time this summer is to get in shape before heading back to school in the fall. Like take a weekly yoga class at your local community center or GYM, or if you don’t know how to already take some learn to swim classes, swimming is a great way to burn of calories especially during the summer and is a fun activity for the whole family to do together. Another way to get fit this summer is to plan a goal, workout for forty minutes, three times a week and do various exercises; like Monday start your week of by doing a light forty minute walk at a local park or bike ride around town, Wednesday swim for forty minutes or do a forty minute cardio session; which includes some jump roping, dance, and jumping jacks. Lastly,
Friday unwind your weekly workout by doing a nice easy forty minutes routine of yoga to let the stress and pressure of the week go from you mind and body.
Remember to get you perfect figure and look you don’t have to kill yourself exercising should be fun; as well as help you stay in shape and make you feel good about yourself. But you need to do more than just workout you should always eat breakfast, just make sure it is something good for you like an apple or banana and when every you want a quick snack don’t go for that bag chips, eat fruits, or vegetables, and if you keep to your workout plan you should not only look good, feel health, but have more energy throughout the day.
Other ways to have fun this summer are; parties have a pool party or a baroque with your family, friends, or neighbors. Take a class, I know schools out but take a fun summer class you wouldn’t normal get to take during the year, many community collages offers summer classes for kids and teens, you could unleash you creative in a art class or shut a movie in a film making classes, the choices are unlimited. You can even try a new hobby learn to play the guitar, or to dance who knows you might find you calling, also check the newspapers for things going on around you city or town. You can even go to your local zoo, mall, or some cool museums you know. Sparkling Stars hopes these tips helped you get into the summer attitude, now get out there and have some fun.
