Another Dumb Blonde

I don’t mind living in a man’s world as long as I can be a woman in it.
- Marilyn Monroe
It is funny to think that if Marilyn Monroe was here today she would be considered fat, because she was one of the sexiest, prettiest, and talented women in her time; and is still known today for her role in the film “The Seven Year Itch.” Marilyn was a triple threat, she was an actor, singer, and model; she started her career at an early age, although it took awhile in time she became one of Hollywood’s most popular and beautiful stars.
However, she did have something working against her, the way she looked. Most people thought she was a “Dumb Blonde;” which meant that she had to work extra hard to keep her standing in Hollywood, but to not loss her comedic appeal she use the “Dumb Blonde” typecasting to her advantage to keep her fan base growing. And, although she lead people to believe she was, she was not dumb at all; in fact studied at the Actors Studio and later went on to open Marilyn Monroe Productions, she even got a Golden Globe Award for her performance in the film, Some Like it Hot.
Monroe, did have a wonderful live, but sadly the finial years of it were filled with personal problems that affected her and her career. Co-works and others in the business so began to call the star unreliable and difficult to work with, she was said to have died of an overdose of barbiturates, though most people still believe she was murdered, however no proof to the theory has ever been found.
Her memory lives on in Hollywood; in 1999 American Film Institute named her the sixth greatest female stars of all time, she is one of the most popular Halloween costume for not only teen girls but woman as well, and she is truly a Hollywood icon.
