The CW show “The Vampire Dairies.” Dobrev, will play Elena; a young girl who finds herself caught up in a crazy love triangle with two vampire brothers, the series will premiere on September 10, 2009 and be a part of CW’s Thursday line up.
The Vampire Dairies, is a book written by L.J. Smith, which puts it on the list of vampire books turned into movies and, or series such as; the classic movie/book “Interview With a Vampire,” the hugely popular 2008 film “Twilight,” and the HBO series “True Blood,” besides those it also joins vampire based series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Moonlight.”
Nina, talks about the show calling it edgy, sexy, and darker than “Twilight,” however she does admit to reading the Twilight books, which is why the show interested her; “I was a Twilight fan! I remember reading the books and saying if they ever make a movie of this I have to play Bell, and that did not work out, but this series was written years before “Twilight” and this character I am her, I love it!”
The show will be hitting the small screen at the right time with “Twilight; New Moon” movie coming out in November 2009, and the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” movie remake rumored to be in the works people seem to have vampire’s on the brain. But, why is it we love these blood sucking creatures of the night?
Well, Nina has a few ideas “Their something appealing about guy who lives at night in the dark. Sometimes you just want that mystery and that guy who you cannot get to.”
Although, her new show seems fascinating she doesn’t forget where she started and thanks Degrassi: The Next Generation for everything it has taught her, saying, “Degrassi been great for me, it started me out. I’ve learned so much pretty much everything from what to do to what not to do, I love it! And it my seem hard to do jump from high school to vampires we know and believe that she is going to do great, this is a career making role for the star and we can already see her fan base growing. Vampire Diaries and season nine of Degrassi air this fall, so be show to check you local listing and make such to watch them both.
