Sparkling Stars: First, start off by tell are readers who you are and a little bit about yourself.
Dusti:
My name is Dusti Rose Huston. I’m 16; and I’ve lived in Texas my whole life. I started acting in the 6th grade, and have wanted to take it as a serious career since I entered high school. I’ve also been singing for a very long time, but I’m not sure if I want to break out in the music business. I’m a very optimistic person, I try to find the positive in everything. I’m very friendly, and I love meeting new people. I love reading, but I’m also addicted to movies. I could spend my entire day having a movie marathon and not be bored. I play in the marching band at school (go French Horns!) I’m in a relationship, and very happy with it. I love Disney Channel and everything about it. Summer is my favorite time of year, and I have a lot of big dreams that I’m very ambitious to accomplish.
Sparkling Stars: Why do want to be an actress?
Dusti: Like I said, I have been acting since the 6th grade. At first I didn’t want to do it at all. My mom and my friends did everything in their will power to get me to be in a play, but I was just too shy to do it. But finally one of my closest friends got to me and convinced me to be in my very first play. I had an extremely small role, but nothing could beat the feeling of pride I had when we closed the curtain opening night. Acting gives me a rush of adrenaline that nothing else can; I love it so much. Acting gives you the chance to act as some one else, gives you the chance to engulf yourself in a whole different personality; and share that characters story with the world; and nothing feels better than that.
Sparkling Stars: Did the pressure of the business ever scary you or change your mind?
Dusti: Honestly, no! Yes, the business can get a bit intimidating sometimes, I mean, how couldn’t it? But I want to act so badly, and I would never let something like the business itself get in my way.
Sparkling Stars: What do you think when you read, or see other stars do (Miley Cyrus Vanity Fair cover, Vanessa Hudgen’s Picture Scandal) lets say not appropriate things?
Dusti: Well, at first I’m disappointed in the, “star”. But in the long run I learn to forgive them, because, everyone makes mistakes, and as long as they learn from them, there’s not point in holding it against them.
Sparkling Stars: You started on YouTube, why did you start making videos?
Dusti: My older YouTube (rocketsk8r101) started off just as a silly thing. Where I could post videos of my friends and I being dorks, which is why most people make a YouTube. But then I came to learn that YouTube was one of the very many great ways to, “spread the word” about myself, and show the talent I had. So I took that chance immediately and started meeting many people because of it!
Sparkling Stars: What is one of your favorite monologues you have done?
Dusti: Definitely the one I performed at ProScout! It’s a monologue about a girl that works at McDonalds and is having the worst day ever due to one customer that just seems to find something wrong with every cheeseburger she gets.
Sparkling Stars: You have been to Pro Scout three times, what is that event like, because most people believe it is a scam?
Dusti: You can pretty much sum up ProScout in 1 word. FUN. Yes, it’s a little intimidating, meeting the worlds top 30+ agencies; but you meet so many people there, and you make tons of friends. Trust me, it’s not a scam. I should know, I’ve been there 3 times! If you want more information, you can go to www.proscout.com and you’ll find tons of information there. But ProScout is a scouting event, where 30+ agencies come to meet you and hundreds of other people there going out for the same thing as you, acting and modeling.
Sparkling Stars: What has things been like since got signed with Victor’s International?
Dusti: Exciting! 3 weeks after getting a callback from Victor’s International, I went back to Dallas for a photoshoot for my composite cards with Victor’s photographer. My composite cards are what I will use for clients to see what I look like when they might want to book me for a job. I should get my composite cards around end of July or beginning of August. Once I get those I will sign a model’s agreement with Victor and then I will start booking jobs. I’m extremely ecstatic, and cannot wait!
Sparkling Stars: If you could on any show what would it be?
Dusti: Well, there’s 2. If I could be on Disney Channel, I’d absolutely love to be on JONAS. But as for any other TV show, I’d love to be on Gossip Girl. It’s one of my all time favorite shows!
Sparkling Stars: Who in the business inspires you?
Dusti: Quite a few actors and and actresses, ranging from teens to adults. Just to name some off of my head would be: Blake Lively, Anne Hathaway, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Jonas Brothers, Johnny Depp, John Cusack, Sandra Bullock, and very many more.
Sparkling Stars: If you could be any superhero, who would it be and why?
Dusti: Well, I never really gave it much thought, but being Cat Women might be cool! I remember seeing that movie with Halle Berry, and I loved how strong, confident, and sexy she was!
Sparkling Stars: You did an interview with the great Taylor Cornwell, and suddenly your fan base grow. What was that like?
Dusti: Exhilarating! I was doing good with fans before, but once Taylor interviewed me, my fans tripled! It was so great to wake up every morning to e-mails from fans that are inspired by me, and are excited to see me living my dream. I love every single fan, and I cannot thank Taylor enough for how great she has done with promoting me!
Sparkling Stars: What is it like to no you have so many fans?
Dusti: Amazing! Every one of my fans means a different kind of special to me, and they all touch my heart very much. Knowing how many fans I have helps encourage me even more to get out there and keep doing what I love!
Sparkling Stars: Can people request a monologue for you to do?
Dusti: You know, I’ve never really thought about it; but now that I do, that’s a really great idea! It would help me come up with new material and ideas, so I’m more than welcome for people to send me monologue requests!
Sparkling Stars: What is your next step in your career?
Dusti: Right now I’m waiting to start really working with Victor. Once that takes off, I want to try and wiggle my way in to acting more, because Victor is more of a modeling agency than a talent one. Right one I’m just taking things as they go and trying to get as much publicity as I can get fan wise, and views wise. I’m trying to “get the word out there” more.
Sparkling Stars: You have post a couple of sing videos on your page as well, is that something you would like to pursue in the future?
Dusti: I absolutely love singing. The only problem is that the only instrument I know how to play is the French Horn. So honestly, I don’t want to think about breaking out into the music industry until I can play an instrument and write my own songs. Then I’ll see.
Sparkling Stars: What kind of music would you like to sing (Rock, Pop, ect.)?
Dusti: I really like music like Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, and Paramore. So probably a mixture of Pop/Rock.
Sparkling Stars: Will you be posting more covers on your page?
Dusti: Definitely! I just have to find the right song at the right time. But more cover videos will be coming soon!
