YouTube Starlet: Taylor Cornwell Q&A
By Editor • Sep 1st, 2009 • Category: Features, Interviews, Up and comingAspiring starlet Taylor Cornwell does it all on top of her promising acting and modeling career; which she is currently studying at John Robert Powers acting and modeling school to help improve her skills in both areas, she also promotes aspiring talent such as herself get their names out there. And on top of everything she took time out of her busy schedule to do a quick interview with Sparkling Stars.
Sparkling Stars: First start off by introducing yourself, and telling our readers a littler bit about who you are.
Taylor Cornwell: Hello. My name is Taylor & I’m kind of full moon crazy!
Music is my life, it’s not my fault I’m a slave to the groove.
The Jonas Brothers are amazing.
I don’t care what anyone says.
I’m probably going to marry an Abercrombie model.
I’m not fake, but I only love few.
There’s a lot more to me then many people think or see.
Fashion is my main thing, I try.
New York is home, but some how I got stuck in a small town, a town much too small for my dreams.

Haters make me famous, so thank you. One day, I’ll show them.
Laugh too much, way too random, loving every day of my life, and to sum it all up?
Friends, photography, acting, big cities, central park, California sunshine, falling asleep under the stars, concerts, music, laughing, beautiful people, hair, life.
Sparkling Stars: You are an aspiring actor, right?
Taylor Cornwell: Sure am! Have been for about seven years now, and it’s been an amazing journey, let me tell you.
Sparkling Stars: Who or what got you into acting?
Taylor Cornwell: My aunt actually. She lived with my family for a while and we became very close. She has a family of her own now but we keep in contact, of course! There was something there I guess. She believed in me and never stopped. When I was seven years old there was an ad for Proscout on the radio, and she convinced my mom to let me audition. Ha-ha, my mom gave in believing it was some kind of cattle call, and when more then half of the people who showed up for the audition walked away with nothing, it became clear to my mom.
We ended up walking out with two callbacks after the actual event. My family wasn’t in a position to start following my career so I turned to theater. My first performance was the narrator in my 4th grade class play, Lewis and Clark. Loved it! My grandparents came and everything. Ha-ha, the next year, Missoula Children’s Theater came to my elementary school and I landed the role of Mowgli in, The Jungle Book. And that’s when I really fell in love with everything about acting! They invited me to their summer camp that summer and I’ve been acting ever since.
Sparkling Stars: You have been to Proscout, what is it all about and why should other aspiring talent go there?
Taylor Cornwell: Proscout is good for those who want to learn from industry professionals’ and meet kids their own age who have the same desires as they do, and get used to performing in front of people.
And, its fun! It’s busy! And you learn so much. I can’t say it enough; you really do need to go, so even if you walk away with zero callbacks, you’re actually walking away with a wealth of information! It’s great!
It made me strive harder.
Sparkling Stars: How has Proscout help your career?
Taylor Cornwell: Proscout actually jump started my career. I’ve been twice and the second time I walked away with 13 callbacks, 7 modeling and 6 acting. However we weren’t and still aren’t in a position to just move to California with no work guaranteed, so we ended up signing with a local modeling agency.
I went to Proscout for my acting career and came out a model. I’ve actually fallen in love with both! They’re so different but so much a like.
Proscout gave me knowledge for both acting and modeling. Before Proscout, I knew nothing about either business. I began my modeling career and realized it wasn’t something I wanted to do, but I had to act; it was a must for me.
Although sometimes you have to start small, if I wasn’t in the modeling industry and didn’t learn so much about it, I wouldn’t be able to help out the tons of aspiring models that I do now!
Sparkling Stars: Is there a certain type of acting you are interested in (i.e. Disney, Film, Theatre)?
Taylor Cornwell: Ha-ha, well definitely not Disney! I feel so bad for the kids who are in contract with them. I mean Disney kids make bank no doubt, (take a look at Jonas Brothers, 12mill, last year) and are excessively promoted, at any chance they get) but its hard to take someone like Miley Cyrus seriously if she were to move to something more well, serious!
I’m interested in serious acting, films and what not, award winning things. I want to work with respectable people in the business. But then I’m interested in the complete opposite, like commercials and little sitcoms, things like that.
Whatever comes my way!
Sparkling Stars: What is your favorite thing about acting?
Taylor Cornwell: Hmmm, everything? Ha-ha, I like being able to portray different characters.
Pretending to be someone else for a while is fun for me. And I like entertaining people. That’s something I try to do, every chance I get.
Sparkling Stars: Besides your promising acting career; you are also some what of a junior publicist for aspiring talent, is that correct?
Taylor Cornwell: Ha-ha I don’t know about promising, but yes, promoting is something I enjoy more then anything! If I can help people who are in the same ‘boat’ as me, it’s just amazing. I’m making friends while watching and supporting their careers as well. Its one of the best feelings in the world!
Sparkling Stars: Why did you decide to, let’s say represent and help out aspiring talent?
Taylor Cornwell: Well, someone did it for me, and I couldn’t thank them enough, I still can’t.
When you’re an aspiring artist, and someone knows your name, it’s the best feeling in the world. When they say, hey I like your monologues, or I saw your YouTube, the feeling is exhilarating! It makes me aspire even more. The people who email me and say, you are my idol and thank you for inspiring me, because of you I’m going to start working on my career again; sometimes it brings tears to my eyes. It feels amazing, that someone like me who is nobody, can impact on persons life. Wow!
Sparkling Stars: If your career suddenly takes off, will you still help out aspiring talent, and stay connected to your fans?
Taylor Cornwell: Certainly! As much as I can and special if I gain connections.
As for the fans, 100% YES! I don’t want to be the celeb that doesn’t have time, changes their number, pays people to run their MySpace/YouTube, as Biggie Smalls once said in his song Juicy- “Call the crib, same hood, same number, it’s all good.” That’s me right there.
The people, who supported me when I was nothing, shall be rewarded.
Sparkling Stars: What do you think is the best way for aspiring talent to help their career?
Taylor Cornwell: Do what you love, no matter what! “Fame” isn’t going to come tomorrow.
I wasn’t able to sign with an agent right away, so I turned to theater. And again, I turned to modeling. Everyone starts somewhere. Some people got through the back door, but that’s the exception. The rule is, if you love what you do, whether you make millions a year and have screaming fans at your door, or if you’re in your parent’s basement, you’re happy.
Do it for you, not for anything else and have fun!
Start a YouTube page. Maybe an online magazine will find you and want an interview.
Sparkling Stars: What are you doing to help your career?
Taylor Cornwell: I am currently going to school at John Robert Powers, and I love it. I can’t even tell you how much I love it! I’m learning so much, I’ve made new friends, and I’m always in the city baby! They get you interviews each month and teach you a million things. It’s crazy, and worth the money.
As for just me, I make videos of myself reciting monologues, watch a lot of TV/movies and audition for school plays. Get me on stage, and I won’t go home.
Sparkling Stars: How can people follow your career?
Taylor Cornwell: I’m obsessed with Twitter. Follow me, I tell all. I also have a brand spanking’ new YouTube page, that is now new and improved!

Sparkling Stars: What would you like to say to other aspiring talent and your fans?
Taylor Cornwell: Don’t give up. Please. If you give up on your dream because the mean girls at school, or because you realize there are 1,000 other people like you in the world trying to do the same thing, stay strong. Listen to some music, it helps. And remember no matter what, you’re doing what you love. Take your journey, you never know where it’s going to take you. So go with the flow, and have fun.
Sparkling Stars: If you could be any superhero who would it be and why?
Taylor Cornwell: Definitely Spider Man. We have a connection, don’t ask. I want to wear a hot red suit and climb walls. It sounds appealing to me. Ha-ha!
