Homemade Halloween Costumes
By Editor • Oct 4th, 2009 • Category: FeaturesOn a tight budget this year, or just don’t want to spend money on a costume you are just going to wear once, or twice? Well, Sparkling Stars has put together a great list of some easy homemade Halloween costumes, so that even the people that want to dress up this year don’t have to put out the cash. Who knew that new dress of your, or those pants and that cute top you have could make the perfect costume.
1. Cat:
To make this costume by using your own clothes all you have to do is wear solid black; it can be a black shirt and pants, or even a long black dress. This is a great choice because you can do something very fun and dramatic to your eyes, and to help you out here are some YouTube videos that show you how to get the perfect cat eye.

2. TV Shows and Stars: Another easy homemade character to dress up as is a character from your favorite show or any celebrity.
There are many different TV show characters to be and the costumes will just take a few minutes to put together; for teens they should stick with teen dramas; instead of Disney Channel and Nickelodeon shows (Icarly, Hannah Montana, ect.). A great character to go as is one of the girls from the CW series “Gossip Girl;” the video link below will show you have to do the make-up and hair, as well as give tips on what type of clothes to wear for the character, Serena van der Woodsen.

If you are a bit older and would like to go as a character from a show, I would say go as one of the girl from “Sex and the City.”
This was and still is a very popular TV series and the costume is such an easy one to make, all you do is pick your character find a picture and put together an outfit similar; like the picture below of the character Charlotte all you need are some dark wash jeans and a blazer that you can find at any clothing store, or maybe in your own closet. Also check out the video below which shows you how to do your make up like Charlotte.

3. If you want to go as a star I would stay away from going as the most known names in Hollywood that everyone will be dressing up as, go for some one different; instead of Miley Cyrus go for the equally beautiful and talent Demi Lovato, who recently had a very successful summer tour and two top selling albums (Don’t Forget and Here We Go Again). For her look you need to just curl your have and wear jeans, a plain black shirt, boots, and most importantly a leather jacket.
Below you will find a video on how to do your make-up close to Demi’s to help make you costume complete. Also if you are looking for something a little different go as an old Hollywood movie star like Marilyn Monroe, or Katharine Hepburn; to pull off their looks just wear something as simple as a solid black, or white dress.

4. A few other good homemade costume ideas our; cowgirl, or some might even call it the Taylor Swift costume. Just wear jeans, a plaid shirt, cowboy hat, and cowboy boots, or any boots you have. The other costume idea is a gypsy just wear a long and a shirt that the sleeves kind of fly out and a bandanna. Below you can find videos on how to do make-up for the costumes.
