Candy? Maybe not….

When asked what their favorite holiday is, most children will answer either Christmas or Halloween. After all, it’s the choice between presents or candy. Well, maybe the “candy” part is better to say “no,” to.

First of all, the sugar in candy has many adverse affects on your body. It’s bad for your teeth, and can cause dentistry problems.candy_aisle_optSecondly, an excess of sugar in your system makes the insulin levels in one’s body rise. There are at least thirty bad consequences know to science why one does not want their insulin level to be too high. High blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, sleep disorders, accelerated heart and vessel disease and decreased energy levels can all be caused by too much sugar.

You could always go with sugarless candy, but the artificial chemical sweetener used instead of sugar, called Aspartame, is known to kill brain cells. Aspartame can be found in most diet sodas, sugarless chewing gum, or any food that claims to be “sugar free.”

Check your labels to avoid Aspartame and other chemical sweeteners that are, in the long run, quite bad for you.

Also, think about what’s inside the cheap candy bars that everyone hands out for Halloween. You have no idea how old they are, or how long they’ve been sitting around in a store or someone’s house. You don’t know how sanitary the machines were where the candy was made. 20051031-8523-kyle-trick-or-treating_optAlso, there is an average of eight insect legs found in every bar of candy, according to K. Bathker, a science instructor.

Like many things in life, candy is fine in moderation. However, before hoarding a giant backpack of it home after a night of trick-or-treating, take a moment and think: do you really want all of that in your body? Maybe candy doesn’t seem like much, but it can have a huge affect on your body.
