Cast: Abigail Breslin, Sofia Vassilieva, and Cameron Diaz
Movie Rating: PG-13
Running Time: 1 hour & 9 minutes
Sara & Brian Fitzgerald are two parents trying to do what ever they can to keep her daughter alive, even if they sometimes forget she’s not their only child.
Jesse Fitzgerald, is sometimes in the shadow of his sister’s illness, but still tries his best to put on a smile for his sisters.
Anna Fitzgerald sometimes feels as if she was brought into this world, by vitro fertilization, to be a genetic match for her older sister. In other words her savior and nothing more, but she truly knows she is loved and important to her family.
Kate Fitzgerald sees everyday what her sickness puts her family through and tries her best to stay positive,
and make things as easy as she can for the people she cares about.
My Sister’s Keeper is base off Jodi Picoult; by the same name, it deals with the struggles a family must face by having child with cancer, and has to do with Anna who is sick of her parents using her to try and save her sister Kate’s life. So, she seeks the help of Attorney Campbell Alexander; in order to sue her parents for medical emancipation. I having not read the book, but I believe that the movie was a little whole and there were many things that I would have liked them to have gone deeper into.
The film does show that just because someone you love is sick or in pain does not mean you have to stop living, you should try you best to keep them with you and make their life as fun and happy as possible. It tells a touching story of the great links a family will go to for one another and the loves that brings a family together.
Although, I didn’t like the fact that they made death out be nothing; everyone dies we all no that, but every death counts to someone, weather its; a mother, daughter, husband, aunt, friend, or sister. The film made it as if we all just die and there is nothing more, and we should all just go on living, which was one of the two problems the film had, the other being that it didn’t let us get to know the characters enough and find out little bit more about each member of the family.
However, in the end My Sister’s Keeper will make you cry, smile, and appreciate the ones you love. If you are looking for sad but happy family film this is defiantly the one for you.
