venus_opt1Venus, known to most as the Roman goddess of love and beauty was once just the goddess of fertility; the Greek goddess Aphrodite held the title of love and beauty. However, the Romans; not knowing these are the attribute she would be remember for, add the aspects of the love and beauty goddess Aphrodite, on to Venus as her characteristics.

It is rumored that the Roman people stated this about Venus many years ago, and some still believe it today; “She was the goddess of chastity in women, the protector of feminine chastity. She is the bringer of joy to gods and humans.”

Although, Venus was the goddess of, shall we say passion, we mustn’t forget that she was the goddess of beauty as well. But, what many people do not know is that there are in fact two different Aphrodites; the first is the daughter of Uranus and is known as the goddess of unworldly love, the other is the child of Zeus and Dione and is known as the goddess of physical appearance.

There are many books and movies on Venus; all those most make her out to her as being a sex-symbol she was actually very elegant and lady like. In many and paintings/drawings she shown with every little clothes, or none at all, like the most famous statue of her is probably the armless Venus de Milo, which feature her top have completely unclothed. However it is said that she wore beautiful gowns and a crown.
