“I don’t want to restrict myself from doing things that stimulate me just to make them happy . . . if they continue liking me, that’s cool, but I don’t want to cater to them. I’m not 13, 14, or 15 anymore.” This is a quote from Hilary Duff about pleasing her younger fans, it is from the 2008 May issue of Allure.

Most of her fans know that her breakout role cam in 2001, when she landed the role of average good-girl Lizzie;0088_optin the Disney Channel original series Lizzie McGuire. But, it has been almost six years since the show ended, and Hilary has tired her hardest to break way from her good-girl label and prove that she a serious actress. We all know that growing up is apart of life and with Hilary maturing, so is her music and film/Television career; she shocked us all with her sultry music video for her song “Reach Out” and role as the sexually Yonica Babyyeah in the 2008 film, War, Inc. But, her most scandalous thing she has done is when her recurring “Gossip Girl” character Olivia Burke, and to of the shows main characters (one being another girl) had a steamy threesome, a plot no one saw coming.

With her few guest-roles on shows other than Gossip Girl, like Ghost Whisperers and Law and Order it was believed that she would be making her way back to the land of TV, but sadly those hopes fell through when her rumored half-hour sitcom wasn’t picked up. Nevertheless, we will get our fill of Duff this year with the film “Greta;” normal_053_optwhere she portrays the role of a young girl (Greta) who is set on ending her life before she turns eighteen, it is said to be one of her best roles yet. She will also be on TV again, but this time in the ABC Family original movie “The Business of Falling in Love;” about a reporter who goes undercover for a story about finding love in the workplace. It is a funny, romantic, and based on the book “The Diary of a Working Girl” by Daniella Brodsky; it is set to air in, Spring 2010.

Also, she has an endless number of other roles that are up in the air as of now, and have not yet been officially confirmed.

But, still with all this she has to every now and then deal with people doubting her acting skills, some jealous fans, others common celebrities; when it was announced that she would be playing Bonnie Parker in the remake of the film “Bonnie and Clyde” former Bonnie Parker, Faye Dunaway took a stab at Hilary by saying “Couldn’t they have at least cast a real actress?” However, Duff kept her head held high and responded by saying “I think what she said was a little unnecessary.” Well, with 2010 her we got a lot more to look forward to concerning Hilary Duff, but to us her at Sparkling Stars we will never forget what we consider to be one of her best roles ever, Lizzie McGuire.
