Anime/Cartoon: Girls Bravo

The show centers on Yukinari who has a very rare condition; whenever girls touch him, or even come near him he suddenly breaks out in hives. But, now in high school he abruptly gets transported to the city of Seiren, which is on a spiritual world unnoticeably orbiting the Earth. Seiren is occupied by an immense number of girls and very little boys, some men might find having so many girls around a good thing but with Yukinari situation he thinks it is the worst thing ever. Luckily he finds a friend in a girl named Miharu-chan, strangely and fortunately her touch doesn’t effect. So, the question is can Yukinari handle this new place he is force to stay or will a women’s touch break him.

First off I must say that “Grils Bravo” dubbed is probably funnier than the subbed version. This is not to say the subbed take on the series is boring it just tends to drag at parts, unlike the dubbed edition which doesn’t have a dull moment. At first glace you might think the show is a typical anime about a teenage boy with a silly condition, who gets into crazy situation involving girls, and, you would be completely right and wrong at the same time. Although, the plot might be a cliché the show doesn’t just have an over used story and focus much on the romance but more of the comedy in the phrase “romantic comedy”.

However, if you are unease by nudity in anime this may not be the one for you, because in episode 1 there was some bareness, as well as in many other episodes of the show. I myself am not a fan of nakedness in show, but why I give this anime thumbs up (besides the fact that is good for a laugh) is the characters. Each girl in “Girl Bravo” have different personalities which is great because they have diverse thought on the situations that go on in every episode. The persona of each girl may not be unlike the ones from animes such as “School Rumble” and “Love Hina”, but their qualities works so well together that it is perfect. However, there are some characters that are standout from the pack and will make you laugh.

So, if you’re looking for an anime that has girls, a boy with a disorder unheard of before, some great laughs, and you don’t mind the state of undressing than I recommend you head out an pick up “Girls Bravo: The Complete Series” which contains every episode from season 1 and 2.
