Recycle That Outfit
Taylor Swift got a lot of flak for telling Harper’s Bazaar because of her celebrity status she can’t wear something twice. According the the Bazaar the songstress said “I’m in a predicament where I can’t wear a dress twice or else it’s pointed out in magazines, so unfortunately I have to shop for dresses all the time.” Although, many people do not agree with Miss Swift “one and done” attitude there are many ways that an outfit can be re-worn and look completely different.
1. Accessories, Accessories, Accessories: An outfit can be instantly changed by adding various accessories. Throw on a scar and cross body bag for a day time look. However, by exchanging the scar for a statement necklace and the cross body bag for a clutch add some heels and you have the perfect nighttime look. Remember the little things can transform an outfit in just a matter of seconds.
2. Layers are a Girls Best Friend: Utilizing your wardrobe to its fullest potential is a must, which makes layering is an essential key when re-wearing an outfit. Add a chuck sweater or plain T-shirt over a dress turning it into a skirt in a matter of minutes. Layer some leggings and cardigan over an outfit for a more causally design. The great thing about layering is that you get to use various pieces from your closet to create diverse looks.
3. Alterations Never Hurt Anyone: Lastly, if all else fails make something old, something new. Alterations’ and touch ups can fully redo an outfit. Take a floor length long-sleeved dress and raise the hemline and remove the sleeves crafting a cute summer dress. Add lace and rhinestones constructing your ensemble to look fashionable and expensive with just a few modifications.
