Dreaming of a Black and White Spring

What every closet needs: The LBD and White Dress

As I wander through the dress sections of every store, both online and in store, I find myself drawn to the various patterns and fabrics. Black and white dress are two colors that stand out like beacons of light.

Now maybe I’m getting a little too into it but with March already here spring is just around the corner, and sooner than you know it you will be breaking out the summer wardrobes and exchanging your fluffy boots for a pair of cute sandals. Pantone’s Spring 2013 leans towards a more subdued, yet colorful, palette this year. However, every wardrobe needs a little black dress and a white dress. The LBD is perfect for a date night, any party, or evening reception-even during summer. For any summertime lunch dates, outings and the family parties, the LBD counterpart, the white dress is perfect. However, try to avoid any accidental spills such as barbeque sauce, ketchup or watermelon.

I have one friend who explained she has a little black dress, but she never knows when to wear it. My rule of thumb is to base it off of time. Anything after 5pm might call for more intimate or formal wear, and the LBD fits the bill here. If out while the sun is still warm and bright do not force yourself into a black dress that you are going to overheat in, go for the white dress. Now, do not get me wrong, you can wear a black dress any time of the day, but it all calls for the right occasion and here we’re specifying dresses during the spring and summer months when it is more practical to wear the LBD in the evening.

Below check out a few cute white and black dresses that are perfect for a variety body shapes and pocketbooks.
