When I first heard Jessica Simpson had crossed over to country music I was skeptical, I was never a big fan of the pop princess her voice to me was nothing more than heavy breathing. The title track “Come On Over” is a nice uptempo song, her voice is strong and clear, it is a nice song to introduce herself to country fans. The next track (Remember That) is one of my favorites it is a slow song that talks about someone being abused by her husband or boyfriend. At the end of the song she state that she has been in her shoes so you wonder if she isn’t talking about her own life a little, because you can feel her pain in this song. Unfortunately the rest of the tracks are slow and drag on- “Pray Out Lound”, “You’re My Sunday”, and “Sipping On History”, her voice though these songs is strong and they sound to me as if they are all autobiography about her life with ex-husband Nick Lachey; which seem to be not a very happy one.

The track “Still Beautiful” is a up tempo song, but it has the same autobiography feel. As dose “Still Don’t Stop Me”, “When I Loved You” and “Might As Well Be Making Love”, though these songs are slow, boring, and not worth listening to. The last to tracks (Man Enough and Do You Know) are interesting; “Man Enough” is as if she is talking to current boyfriend Tony Romo asking him if he can make her forget about Nick Lachey, but I guess not since the whole CD sounds like it is about him. Finial the last track “Do You Know” is a duet with Dolly Parton and is a good country song. I really liked it, but you wonder if Jessica should have done a duet with Dolly Parton who sounds much better than her, so much that you want to hear Dolly’s voice and not Jessica.

In my opinion this CD was just an autobiography of her life. Though, I was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out. It was a nice change from the usual Jessica, you learn that she can sing and not just breath. I believe the crossover to country music is a good one for her, I just hope her next CD is more upbeat and happy.
