Jennette strikes a cord in the teenage hearts of her fans with her meaningful lyrics. Another single by Jennette entitled “Homeless Heart” was a dedication to Jennette’s young friend, Cody Waters.

Cody died at the tender age of nine from brain cancer. Jennette had crossed paths with him through Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Twenty percent of the money made from this single went straight to the Cody Waters Foundation. Rest in Peace, Cody. Jennette released an EP on August 17 that includes all of these songs. Her single “Stronger” will be features on Volume 35 of the series “NOW That’s What I Call Music!” on August 31, 2010.

Miley Cyrus proves she isn’t Hannah Montana anymore with her newest album released on June 22, 2010. Her first single “Can’t Be Tamed” is very grown up with lyrics like “For those who don’t know me, I can get a bit crazy have to get my way, 24 hours a day ‘cause I’m hot like that. Every guy everywhere just gives me mad attention like I’m under inspection; I always get the 10s ’cause I’m built like that.”

Her song “Liberty Walk,” which is probably one of the most popular off the album has a very techno sound too it, as well as the track “Who Owns My heart.” It seems as if she couldn’t make up her mind on what sound she wanted the tune “Every Rose Has Thorn” to have it goes from soft to classic rock and back to soft again. Another song that doesn’t if in with the record is “Forgiveness and Love” which sounds more like a soft old country tune unlike the rest of the songs.

Permanent December was an interesting track, it sounded like something the artist Kesha’ would sing however it was so computerized it was hard to listen to let alone hear Miley’s natural voice. The song “Robot” was another techno song, and “My Heart Beats for Love” reminds me of an oldies tune, like something from the Cyndi Lauper.

Now, the tracks “Two More Lonely People” and “Scars” are typical Miley songs, rock songs with a soft sound to them. Also, if you liked her tune “When I Look At You” she recorded for the feature film The Last Song, then you will love the songs “Stay” and “Take Me Along;” both have a nice soothing piano sound.

10. Kissin’ U by Miranda Cosgrave: A cute love song that is upbeat and great to dance to add this to your playlist and listen to it on a summer nights with that special someone.

9. Giddy On Up by Laura Bell Bundy: Broadway vet, Bundy maybe new to the country music scene, but has already put herself on the map with a song about a no-good cheater that has a unique flair.

8. Hey, Soul Sister by Train: This is a fun track that is for the person who isn’t in to hard rock music but wants a song with a little soul. It’ll feel just like summer, when you’re hanging out at the local coffee shop listing to this track on your IPod.

7. Your Love Is My Drug by Ke$ha: Pool Party anyone? Play this track while you and your friend are out by the pool and get everyone dancing. The tune is fast paced with a bit of a rap sound and makes a great party track.

6. I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas: They came back for a bang with this awesome song that starts of slow but has rap upbeat chorus. This is a great summer road trip song, hope in the car roll down the windows and play list tune.

5. Baby by Justin Bieber (Ft. Ludacris): He is the newest heartthrob for teen girls and he got a great summer song, it has nice flow to it also with JB and Ludacris on this track you know it must be a great tune.

4. Undo It by Carrie Underwood: Put a little country in your summer with this track. It is a rocking country song with a bit of a harder sound then we’re use to which sets it apart from other tunes and why it should be on your playlist.

3. Can’t Be Tamed by Miley Cyrus: If you’re having a party on the beach or taking long drive this tune will defiantly get your blood pumping, with times rocker sound and edgy lyrics it is a must listen.

2. Fight Another Day by Addison Road: Though they aren’t a every know group this track is a summer rock tune with a great message. No one should over look this Gospel song!

1. California Gurls by Katy Perry (Ft. Snoop Dogg): In the song Perry singings about the beach, sun, and Hollywood which makes it the perfect summer anthem.

Disney Stars aren’t the only ones hitting the music scene Miranda Cosgrove star of Nickelodeon’s iCarly recently released her first album title “Sparks Fly” on May 4, 2010. The iCarly star’s first single “Kissin’ U” is an upbeat love song with a very slow verse her and there. The album is very much pop teen music which isn’t a, suspire since; Cosgrove is a 16 year old girl. She has a variety of upbeat dance songs including; “BAM,” “Disgusting,” “Daydream,” and “Oh Oh” and some slower song that still have that pop sound to them like; “Shakespeare,” “Hey You,” and “There Will Be Tears.”

Sparks Fly has that classic pop album sound and songs, if you are a fan of Miley Cyrus and Brittney Spears you will be fan of Miranda, one thing I must say is that her voice sounds great through out the entire CD, and she took it to find songs that fit her voice.

I belive every teenager will enjoy this album and should think about getting the five bonus tracks “Adored,” “Charlie,” “What Are You Waiting For,” “Brand New You,” and my personal favorite “Beautiful Mess;” these tracks are only available to buy off Amazon and iTunes.

Disney’s new music collection of 2010 sets the new standard for teen music in Disney Mania 7 as it is released on March 9th, 2010. Featuring Disney stars such as Demi Lavato, Selena Gomez, Mitchel Musso, and Drew Seeley putting a new tune to old songs that many people consider classics. Though there are many opinions of the new album, Sparkling Stars decided to tell you what we thought about Disney Mania 7.

Disney Mania 7 featured many known Disney stars singing re-makes of original Disney songs. Though some versions are not as good as the original, many stars on the album were able to pull-off a new and improved way to rock out the songs we all know and love. Some songs, like Hakuna Matata performed by Debby Ryan, created a different side of the song because they took an up-beat song and created a slower, down to earth feel; she pulled it off amazingly.

Other songs, such as Under the Sea re-done by BooBoo Stewart, were a disappointment due to the fact that this song had been previously re-made by another Disney Channel singer, Raven Simone. Raven gave the song a Jamaican-like sound, closer to the original version sung in ‘The Little Mermaid’ where as BooBoo gave the song a rock-like feel which regrettably did not sound as good.

All in all, the album is a success in the eyes of Sparkling Stars. It wasn’t their best album ever but it is still in the top three. In the extremely popular High School Musical, Ashley Tisdale played the mischevious, lively and funny Sharpay Evans. She was amazing at her role, maybe because she was a little older than the others, and was much more self aware. With the release of her second album, Guilty Pleasure, the 23-year-old Ashley is attempting to sell the teen crowd the proposition that she’s ‘grown up’.

Disney’s tendency for producing tons of ‘talent’ for the teens has become legendary, with Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers being plastered basically everywhere in the world! And every so often some talent breaks through and something amazing and unique is created. But, no matter how charming and mischievous Tisdale was as Sharpay, none of that transfers to Guilty Pleasure. Instead she has sung maladroit songs rubbish attempts at sexuality and very little imagination!

It’s intriging to see that Ashley’s attempts to be grown up is less like a young women growing into her own skin and more like a teenager trying to impress people. It is very disappointing. Guilty Pleasure was written by professionals with no input from Tisdale. Ashley’s band comes out with a lame power pop, complete with wilted guitar progression and sweeping strings for her more emotional numbers. It completely lacks creativeness and is actually rather boring!

The lyrical contents are pretty bleak and the tunes cover the routine breakups-to-makeups area of modern pop music. Tisdale should make up her mind as in ‘Masquerade’ she says “I can be anything you want me to” but insists that she “has to be what she is underneath” in ‘Overrated’. Her everyday, bland vocals do little to communicate any actual importance!

So overall, although some of her songs are okay, Ashley Tisdale’s new album is rubbish and uninspired! This reviewer gives the album a C-!

At first, the thought of Disney sweetheart Selena Gomez putting out an album of her very own was a good one, until sneak peeks of the CD were leaked online. People began to think that her voice was too mechanical in some songs and that the lyrics were less than perfect, however other thought she had talent and when the album was official released, bought it immediately.

Well, I don’t think Selena and the Scene will be winning any Grammys in time soon, but they can hold their own against other Disney artist. Their first single “Falling Down” is a dance techno song that pokes fun at the Hollywood, and bit of the high school, world.

Her titled track “Kiss & Tell” was a bit of a disappointment, suchlike her tune “Naturally;” all though both had catchy tunes there weren’t all that special unlike, the upbeat song “I Won’t Apologize,” which is all about accepting who you are. I Promise You” and “The Way I Loved You” are defiantly the softer songs off her album and I would say two of the best tracks.

Unlike “As a Blonde” and “More” which have to be the two tracks I didn’t like off the album. The lyrics weren’t at all catchy and the music was to rock and roll, however the rest of the songs on CD; “I Don’t Miss You At All,” “Stop and Erase,” “I Got U,” and “Crush” weren’t, like most her tracks, half bad.

So, in the end Selena and the Scenes album was a good first try, but I think with a little more practice and finding the right type of music I believe their second album will be what all Selena fans were hoping for with this CD. Sparkling Stars gives “Kiss & Tell” a B+!

Emily is best known for her role as Lily Truscott in the Disney Channel original series Hannah Montana, but sometimes her talent is a bit over shadowed by her Hannah co-star Miley Cyrus. But, I must say, and no offence to Miss Cyrus, that Emily has a voice that out shines Miley’s in my opinion; her EP “All the Right Wrongs” is available in stores and online for download at Amazon.com, and ITunes. The album contains six great songs, her first single off the EP is “All the Way Up;” the tune has a rock sound to it and is a song you will totally jam out to weather you’re in the car, or in your room.

Another up beat song is “You Are the Only One,” I also liked the song “Average Girl” the chorus had some what of a country music sound to it, which I thought was interesting and gave the song that extra something. The softer tracks off the album are “What About Me” and “Found Out About You,” the lyrics for both songs are amazing and Emily song them with so much power, with out making her voice sound forced.

But, I would have to say that my favorite track, the one I keep replaying is a song that I think every teenage girl can relate to “I Hate the Home Coming Queen.” This is an up beat pop song with a bit of a rock edge, it is about that stuck up girl that everyone in school wants to be and your secretly jealous of, but can’t stand.

I must admit this is far from the Hannah Montana music we usually hear, so if you want to give another kind of pop music a try pick up this album, also check out Emily’s version of the holiday song “Run, Rudolph, Run” and the classic Disney princess song “Once Upon A Dream.”

9. Justin Bieber’s My World: At only fifteen he has become every tweens girl celebrity crush; he instantly caught people’s eyes, or should I say ears, with his singles “One Time” and “One Less Lonely Girl”. His début album “My World” is a big hit and is constantly on replay for many young girls.

8. Jonas Brother’s Lines, Vines, and Trying Times: This album is filled with rock songs, jazz tunes, and even some soft tracks; these boys know what their audience likes to hear, but put it in their own words and adds a little flair to the pop music we are use too. However, it is sad to say this is the last album for the brother, which leads youngest band member Nick Jonas to embark on his on journey with his new band Nick Jonas and the Administration.

7. Michel Jackson’s This Is It (Music That Inspired the Movie): Since is sad death in June 2009 his recorder sales have continued to grow, and with the released of his; what is considered to be a “behind-the-scenes” movie, “This Is It”, in October of 2009 there is no guys to way this has become one of 09’s most sold albums.

6. Ashley Tisdale’s Guilty Pleasure: High School is over and so are her show tune days as well. Twenty-Four and all grown up she proves that good girls can rock just as hard as the bad girls; the album shows her voices ability to sing a medley of different tracks with different emotions. Young adults were big fans of the CD in 09 and happy to see her music separate from the Disney world about bit.

5. Owl City’s Ocean Eyes: A bit new on the music, but fast learners the minute this CD came out it was an instantly downloaded by very teenage boy and girl in the universe. One reason is its unique techno sound, the other is for their hit song “Fireflies”, which has been talked about all over the music world; and with their 2010 tour coming up they’re sure to have an even better new year.

4. Kelly Clarkson’s All I Ever Wanted: She has come along way from being the first ever American Idol, and through all the ups and downs she has had in her career she has proven with this album she has talent. This album was filled with a mixes of rock songs that were great to dance too, and soft tunes that you could listen to at night in your room, it was CD that had a lot of different sound, but all somehow came together.

3. Hannah Montana: The Movie (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack): This album is has a variety of artist including; Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus, Rascal Flats, and Taylor Swift. It has upbeat songs like “You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home” sung by Miss Cyrus, and written by none other than Taylor Swift, there are also some soft songs Miley and her dad’s duet “Butterfly Away” and “God Blessed the Broken Road.” However, what really made this album a best seller was Miley Cyrus hit song “The Climb,” which was a soft tune with a rock edge and amazing lyrics.

2. Taylor Swift’s Fearless (Platinum Edition, CD & DVD): Love Story, White Horse, and You Belong With Me; these are just a few off this wonderful album. Her 2007 title album might have put her on the map, but this CD, besides being sold out in somewhat of a week after its release as gotten her much more than she ever expected like a Grammy nomination for “Best Country Album” and the #2 spot on our “Best Albums of 2009” list.

1. Lady GaGa’s The Fame Monster: A few years ago nobody even knew her name, now everyone wants to be her. This album put Lady GaGa on the music map, with her different sound and strange approach to music she has become one of the biggest selling artists of the year; with recorder selling CDs and sold out concerts she is a mega star.

I stated out skeptical since I’ve never been a fan of pop renditions of Christmas music. So when I sat down to listen to “Christmas from the Heart” the new Christmas album by David Archuleta I was pleasantly surprised.

The first song “Joy to the world” began and the sound of the intro brought me back to the days of 90s pop (which I love) but it had a nice modern twist that I enjoyed as well and of course it showcased Archuleta’s strong vocals. Even though I was listening to it in October I was all ready for the Christmas spirit, I could almost smell the home baked cookies and see snow falling down. This put me in the mood for Christmas right away.

Some tracks that stood out were “Have yourself a Merry little Christmas” with Charice Pempengco, their vocals mesh very well and “Pat-a-pan” in which Archuleta starts the song off in French. My personal favorite was “Silent Night” Archuleta’s soothing vocals make it the perfect lullaby. Other tracks include many Christmas favorites such as “The first Noel”, “Angels We have Heard on High”, and “Ave Maria”.

Overall I would give the CD a B+ the songs and vocals were all done very well yet I wouldn’t recommend it to liven up your Christmas party. The songs more appropriate for a relaxing night with your family or if you want something to sooth you. I enjoyed listening to it and I think it some of the tracks will appear on my personal Christmas playlist in the near future.
