I love Degrassi! I started watching it back around the third season when I live in Vancouver, Canada and when I moved to the stated four years ago I completely forgot about the show until I started seeing promos of the tenth season on Teennick, and thought I’d watching the show all the way from season one. I’m only on season 4 now but after reading your article and finding out what is going to happen in the tenth season I want to watch it more and more. Thanks for doing an aritcle about Degrassi because it is a great show with a great cast and doesn’t get as much attention as it should.

Sparkling Stars reviews is my favorite part of the magazine and I really liked the one you did on “Ramona and Beezus” it has to be my favorite movie as of right now. I’m a big Selena Gomez fan and when I saw it I became an even bigger fan and totally agree with what you said Ramona did make me see that being different is okay!

This issue was alright Degrassi was kind of boring at first but the ninth and tenth season really changed my mind and made me like it more, but I’m not a die heart fan of the show. I did enjoy you Revolution Girl feature, because I really like how you’ve kept it going for three years in a row and I get to find out about up and coming stars. Oh, and the Wizard of all article was interesting on a scale of one to ten I would have to give this issue a 6.

15. Madeline Carroll: This young starlet just so happen to also play the Widget voice in the 2009 animated film “Astro Boy,” however she has more than just that film credit under her belt she has guest stared on high rated TV series “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Cold Case,” and “NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service.” But, her most known role has to be Molly Johnson in the 2008 film “Swing Vote;” about a twist of fate when the presidential election coming down to the vote of one man. Since her first modeling job at the age of 3 year old that this was the business for her and now she is paving her way to fame.

14. Mae Whitman: Probably best known now a day for her role as rebel daughter Amber Holt on the NBC series Parenthood, but her first big time roles came back in 1996, where she stared in the bock buster hit, Independence Day. Another big role for her is when she was casted as George Clooney’s daughter in the feature film “One Fine Day,” she also went on to play the daughter of Sandra Bullock in “Hope Floats.” Mae has had guest arcs on the shows “JAG” and “Arrested Development.” In 2001 she stared as Emma Grace McKee in the somewhat popular TV series “State of Grace,” she has even down many voiceovers for animated films and shows; like Dragon Slaver Rose in Disney Channel’s American Dragon: Jake Long and Katara in “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” and lately you can catch her as the voice of Tinker Bell in the Disney direct to DVD movies based of the pixie. So, even those she isn’t much in the Hollywood tabloids she has got an amazing career behind her and I’m sure ahead of her.

Coming Soon: Of course Whitman will continue her role as Amber Holt in season 2 of Parent. She will also give voice to Tinker Bell in the newest film in the movie series “Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue” out on DVD in September 2010, and again in 2011 for “Tinker Bell: A Winter Story.” She got another animated flick coming out December 2010 “Firedog,” and coming out in 2011 she will be staring in the movie “The Factory.” She is rumored to star in the “Arrested Development” movie out in 2012 but know official confirmation has been made yet.

13. AnnaLynne McCord: This 5’7’ blond haired and green eyed girl who’s been modeling since the age of fifteen is known as high school bitch and drama queen on the CW series 90210. But, McCord is very different from her 90210 counterpart Naomi Clark; her father is a pastor and she was home-schooled and graduated from high school at only 15. Besides “90210” she had a twelve episode arc on the show Nip/Tuck, played a cheerleader in the film “Fired Up!”, and started in the suspenseful, The Haunting of Molly Hartley. AnnaLynne doesn’t have many known roles under her belt just yet but wait and see the blond beauty is going to be seen.

Coming Soon: She will be returning as Naomi Clark for season 3 of 90210 which premiers on the CW September 13, 2010, as well as staring in some movies; like Two Wolves a horror film that is supposed to be released this year. In twenty-eleven she stars along side Val Kilmer and 50 Cent in not only Blood Out but the flick Gun too.

12. Alyson Michalka: You might remember her from the Disney Channel original series Phil of the Future where she played Keely Teslow ; on a show about a family from the future who inadvertently gets stuck in 2004 and most learn to live like a normal family in a time not their own. Perhaps you know her from her musical duo with her sister 78 Violet (formerly known as Aly and Aj) who have released two very successful albums not including their popular Christmas CD. She has blossomed in not only the acting but musical filed, and has come along way from Disney.

Coming Soon: With the new name of 78 Violet we were hoping to get some new tunes too, although the sisters are still writing songs and finding out which direction they want to take their harmony in, they have put their music on the back burner to focus on acting. Aly will be staring in “Easy A” which hits theaters September 17, 2010, and February of 2011 she can be seen in the film “The Roommate.” She is also part of the cast of the CW series “Hellcats,” the show is set to premier on September 8, 2010.

11. Selena Gomez: It is true that every little thing she does is magic. Selena hasn’t done bad from staring career off on Barney and after that she had to go through guest appearances on hit Disney Channel shows before landing the role that has made her a household name, Alex Russo on Wizards of Waverly Place. She then took that star power and turned her talent to music with “Selena Gomez and the Scene” and showed us what a wonderful actress she is in not only the Wizards of Waverly Place TV movie, but her first feature film “Ramona and Beezus.” She has proven that good girls finish first and any role can be the staring point for stardom.

Coming Soon: Although, Selena loves her job this young starlet wants to take a small step away from Hollywood and to University, since through with high school she is hoping to branch out to college and maybe do the acting on the side. But, don’t worry she is currently working on her second album and has released the single “Round and Round” to give her fans a taste of what it will be like. The film “Monte Carlo” that she filmed earlier this year has set the released date of February 11, 2011. As for wizards it is like the old saying goes “all good things must come to an end;” since she has chosen to put her attention on movies and music it leaves little time for the show, I ‘m sad to say after the series fourth season we must bid farewell to waverly place however Gomez has confirmed a “Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie Sequel” for 2011.

10. Nina Dobrev: From young motherhood to vampire love triangles her resume is filled with a variety of different types of shows and movies. Her big break was on “Degrassi: The Next Generation” where she played the role of Mia Jones a teenaged mother trying her best to support her daughter and get good grades, all while having social life. Nina has stared in some TV movies like “Too Young to Marry,” the thriller “My Daughter’s Secret,” and MTV’s “The American Mall;” which just so happens to be a musical and gave her the chance to show off her singing and dancing abilities. Now, she is the main character on the CW show “The Vampire Diaries” based on the book series by L.J. Smith and is a role and show that not only Nina but her fans can really sink their teeth into.

Coming Soon: The Vampire Diaries has been picked up for a second season so we can catch her as not only Elena Gilbert but wicked vampire Katherine Pierce as well, season two will being airing on September 9, 2010. Besides the show we can get enough of she has been casted in to movie with twenty-eleven release dates “The Killing Game” and “American Empire.”

9. Miley Cyrus: All around the world young girls love her songs and show but miss Cyrus has showed us sometimes little girls grow up even her. Miley came into the spotlight when the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana first aired; on the show she play Miley Stewart a normal teenage girl with big secret, when day turns to night Miley turns to Hannah Montana a big Hollywood popstar. The show became a huge hit and lead to a Hannah Montana album and tour where Miley got to give fans a taste of her music as well, and she has even branched out by releasing to albums one is a country pop album “Breakout” and the other is more a grown up Miley “Can’t Be Tamped.” She has token her acting to new heights by staring in the block buster film “Hannah Montana: The Movie” and “The Last Song,” but when the day ends she is still just an average girl.

Coming Soon: She has chosen to end the series that made her famous after its fourth season titled “Hannah Montana Forever.” After releasing her sophomore album “Can’t Be Tamped” her focus is mainly on acting and the movie she is currently filming “LOL: Laughing Out Loud,” which as of now has a summer 2011 opening date. Other feature films you might see her in are “Wake,” “Wings,” and “Family Bond” however know actual details has gotten out about these movies and Miley nor her people have confirmed that she has in fact been casted in any of them.

8. Miranda Cosgrove: She started acting at the age of ten alongside Jack Black in the flick “The School of Rock” and in 2005 she went on to star with a number of young actors in the remake movie “Yours, Mine and Ours.” Although, her film career is great TV is what she is known for, this Nickelodeon beauty was the little sister nobody ever wanted, Megan Parker in the half and hour tween comedy “Drake and Josh.” The show lasted for four years and had to successful TV movies, one had 8.93 million viewers which broke the record of most viewers for the debut of a Nickelodeon movie. Once the series was over Cosgrove head to another Nickelodeon set to start work on her new show, iCarly; the series follows Carly Shay and her best friends who decide to create their own web show, iCarly. The show has proven to be another hit for Miranda, but acting isn’t her only talent she finally got the chance to put out her first album “Sparks Fly” which did fairly well in stores.

Coming Soon: Their have been rumors going around the iCarly will be ending after its fourth season however Miranda herself has not confirmed the shows ending. What we do no is that there is an untitled iCarly project in development for 2011 and for twenty-twelfth she will star in the Nickelodeon Movie “How Could You Do This to Me?”

7. Debby Ryan: She recently stepped into the limelight in 2008 when she landed herself the role of Bailey Pickett on The Suite Life on Deck the spin-off to the Disney Channel show “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.” She has gotten the chance to star in her first Disney Channel original movie “16 Wishes” and redo the track “Hakuna Matata” (The Lion King) for DisneyMania 7. She is living her dream and still trying to get use to fame, her down to earth attitude is what we love about her as well as her talent.

Coming Soon: As of now she is still working on “The Suite Life on Deck” and in selected theaters you can see the film “What If…” where she plays Kimberly Walker in a movie that will leave you asking, what if you had made a different chose in life? Besides that she doesn’t have much on her plate but you can get a glimpse of what she like off screen by checking out her YouTube page “TheDebbyRyanOfficial.”

6. Lucy Hale: Her career on the small screen has been pretty good but has one big down fall her shows can’t seem to stay on the air, she had series regular role on the short lived series “Bionic Woman” and the CW show “Privileged” which only lasted a season. She has done some guest appearances on hit shows like “Wizards of Waverly Place” and “Private Practice,” Lucy has also started in the TV movies “Sorority Wars” and “Deep Cove.” But has she come to find her place in TV? We think so with the ABC family series “Pretty Little Liars” based on the series of novels by Sara Shepard; the show follows four former friends who come together again to uncover an anonymous foe who threatens to expose their darkest secrets.

Coming Soon: ABC family has ordered a complete season of “Pretty Little Liars,” which means 21 episodes due to the fact that the show brings in 2 million viewers per episode so there are high hopes for a second season. Other then waiting for the second season go a head and the first half of season one to being airing, Hale is busy promoting the show through interviews and live chats.

5. Victoria Justice: She is shining on the Nickelodeon show Victorious; about a girl who attends an élite school for young performers. The show was the highest rated live-action series debut for the channel and has kept up those numbers throughout the season. So, it is kind of funny to think she launch her career with a small guest role on the Disney Channel original show The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, because she is Nick girl through and through; with her three season role on Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101 and TV movie “Spectacular!” we just can’t get enough of her.

Coming Soon: The official go head for “Victorious” season two has not been given yet but things are looking good. However, a soundtrack for the show will be put out where you can get all the songs heard on the show and Victoria has mentioned something about her solo album coming out hopeful next year. As for acting she will be staring Brooke Shields in the TV movie “The Boy Who Cried Werewolf” out late 2010.

4. Emma Roberts: She has tried her best to separate herself from the titled of Julia Roberts niece and stand on her own in Hollywood by taking on roles that are classic and some a bit out there. Her role as Nancy Drew in the Nancy Drew movie was a make it or break it one because it was such a classic character, nevertheless Emma took on the character and made it her own with not big but some payoff. She stared in “Lymelife” which was a more grown up role then the ones she portrayed in “Hotel for Dogs” and “Wild Chlid.” Emma even got the chance to star with aunt Julia in the movie “Valentine’s Day” true the two had no scenes together, Emma has stated that it was great to just get be in the same movie as her aunt. This great actress has come a long way from her Unfabulous days and will continue to grace the big screen.

Coming Soon: There is no rest for the starlet her work schedule is crazy from; Twelve, Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac, 4.3.2.1, Homework, A Great Education, & It’s Kind of a Funny Story all rumored to be released later this year, Roberts is also working on the feature film Scream 4 out April 2011, which could be a breakout role for her. She has also been casted in comedy “High School Sweethearts” out 2011.

3. Malese Jow : This 19 year old actress played Geena Fabiano on the tween show Unfabulous and did a few guest roles on Wizards of Waverly Place, Hannah Montana, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and iCarly but it was her eleven episode arc on the CW series The Vampire Diaries as vampire Anna that boosted her career. The character became a favorite among fans of the show and lead to Malese coming up with the idea of Team Anna; do the fact that there is team Edward, team Jacob, team Stefan, and team Damon but no support for a vampire girl. Team Anna spread like a wildfire and launched Team Anna TV shirts, hats, and supporters everywhere but unfortunately her character was staked and will not be returning to the show. But, like Malese has said before Team Anna forever!

Coming Soon: She has mentioned in a video on her YouTube channel (Xomalese) about a new series she will be staring in saying that she is enjoying the character and the role is freaking cool. Malese also has a role in the film “The Social Network” out October 2010 and the 2011 flick “Wulf,” also don’t forget to pick up The Vampire Diaries season one on DVD August 31, 2010 to see watch Anna in action.

2. Ashley Tisdale: Disney sure knows how to pick them; Tisdale was discovered in a mall at the age of three but it took her many years before getting the role of Maddie Fitzpatrick on the Disney Channel series “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” and the mean girl role of Sharpay Evans in the TV musical movie “High School Musical” that most believe launched her career. She has done all three films in the High School Musical franchise, has put out two albums of her own (Headstrong and Guilty Pleasure), and has lends her voice to the Disney Channel cartoon Phineas and Ferb which won the 2010 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Writing in Animation. Ashley was once told that she wouldn’t make it in Hollywood by numerous people and she didn’t let that stop her in going after her dreams and proving them wrong.

Coming Soon: This fall she will star with Alyson Michalka in the CW series Hellcats premiering September 8, 2010 and in twenty-eleven step in Sharpay’s shoes once again in the TV movie “Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure.” A third season of Phineas and Ferb has been confirmed to be in the works, also there is a rumor that Ashley will star in “High School Musical 4: East Meets West.”

1. Brittany Robertson: She was Samantha Saxton on Swingtown and played an energetic fifteen year old who know matter what her father thinks the love her and her boyfriend share is genuine, in “Dan in Real Life.” Now, Brittany stars as Lux Cassidy in the drama series Life Unexpected that airing on the CW and follows Lux a fifteen year old orphan who seeks out her birth parent in order for them to give up their legal rights to her so that she can petition for emancipation, however the judge rules that Lux must move in with her birth parent who will be her guardians, giving her finally the chance at the family she has always wanted. This role has shown us the acting ability that Brittany possessed and claimed her the title of Sparkling Stars Revolution Girl.

Coming Soon: Lucky for us the CW has picked up Life Unexpected for a second season that will being airing September 14, 2010; where we are sure to see more drama, romance, and a One Tree Hill crossover episode. Robertson filmed the movie “The Family Tree” a while back and although there is no exact release date set for it you can hopeful expected it out sometime later this year or early 2011. Also, in twenty-eleven her fan will be dying to see her next project; a Disney Channel original movie called “Avalon High,” that is right she scored the role of Ellie Pennington in the TV movie based on the novel by Meg Cabot that follows Ellie (Robertson) who start to think her classmates at her new school might just be the reincarnations of King Arthur and his court. I can’t wait to see this film and all the other stuff Hollywood has in store for our Revolution Girl!

Great issue! I’ve never seen Pretty Little Liars and the article on it made me want to watch it. I totally agree with your review on “The Last Airbender” movie it was terrible. However, I didn’t agree with you on Miley Cyrus new album; I personal liked it and the new direction she is taking, I never liked her Hannah Montana bubblegum pop songs but this new album is more my kind of music, but besides that it was awesome issue.
- Hilary

The Slayers: Evolution-R Review was my favorite, I’m so glad you guys stared doing anime reviews because I love them. I also like the Family Matters review I only saw it a couple of times but after reading the review I had to go out and buy it. And, I liked the articles on laptop stuff it was really interesting even though I have a desktop not a laptop it was still a cool article.
- Andrew

I’ve been reading the magazine since January 2010 and I my favorite articles have always been the just like ones, however this month kind of disappointed me because I’m not a bug fan of Lea Michele. I’ve seen Glee a couple of time and don’t really like it so why would I want tips on how to get her look, but I was glad to see the article on summer make it was great, but my favorite article had to be about Mary Queen of Scots she is my favorite queen in history.

Who likes getting tests done? Most of you would probably say now. It’s not that fun to get health tests. This is especially true when you get older. In fact, it seems like the older you become the more tests you need to have done. Yet, do you know which ones you need now that you’ve turned 40? Just to give you a starting point, this article goes over 5 health tests you should get when you turn 40.

Here are just five tests—though there are others—that you must consider getting on a regular basis once you reach your 40th birthday.

Blood pressure test – You may have gotten by without worrying too much about it up to this point, but when you reach 40, it makes sense to get your blood pressure checked regularly. For men especially, once they reach this age bracket are more likely to deal with high blood pressure. The risk of heart attack is much higher now. It is important to keep table on their blood pressure. Adjustments in one’s lifestyle could help correct lower your blood pressure and help you avoid expensive medications.

Mammograms – After they reach 40, women should start getting regular mammograms. This health test is intended to check for the possibility of breast cancer. Some women may decide to get a mammogram earlier, but the risks for the development of this devastating cancer go up significantly once a woman reaches her forties.

Cholesterol blood test – The ravages of time often combine without own rough treatment of our bodies when we’re younger to causes other health issues to become relevant at 40. Though you may not have thought much about your cholesterol during your 20s and 30s, things may start change now. In fact, your body may go through many changes. You may have problems with high cholesterol that could cause other medical issues. This is why most physicians recommend that you start getting cholesterol blood tests at this time in your life. Who wants to risk a heart attack or stroke due to clogged arteries that are caused by bad cholesterol?

Diabetes screening – Another disease that commonly emerged when you reach your 40s and 50s is diabetes. Now, more than perhaps in past years, the disease has become more aggressive. This is in large part due to the terrible diets of the population. A diabetes screening should definitely be added to your regular doctor visits when you become 40. You may be able to stop the development of the disease entirely.

Vision – While many people will get their vision checked regularly anyways, it may be more important once you reach 40. This is because most eye problems start at this age, if you haven’t had them already. It could be something as simple as poor eyesight. That’s right. You may have to get a pair of eyeglasses or contacts. For most of your life, your vision was impeccable. Now that you’re 40, you start to notice problems. Doctors suggest getting annual vision tests to keep on top of sight issues.

You should consider getting older a curse. If you are willing to take care of yourself now, you may not have many problems to worry about later. There are just some health tests that should be done for preventative reasons. It’s better to be safe than sorry, they always say.

Cute cover, Victoria looked beautiful. Good article on “A Christmas Carol” it is like the most popular book during the Holidays and it was nice to giving it some credit.
- Jordan

Victoria Justice has been everywhere lately, I saw her on Icarly and True Jackson, and now she’s got her own series! I liked the article because I got to find out what she has got coming up in 2010, however I don’t think she will take away Miranda Cosgrove teen queen title. Miranda will always be number 1!

I didn’t like this month cover girl at all, maybe it is because I am more of a Disney watcher than Nickelodeon, but I don’t think Victoria Justice is that good of an actress to me and I just don’t like her voice. I did like the Holiday wish list and stocking stuffer article it gave me some ideas on what ask “Santa” this year.
- Maria

Good issue, liked the stocking stuffer gifts article I asked for “Gossip Girl: The Complete First Season,” “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: Ultimate Edition,” and “Four Christmases.” I was going to ask for “Justice League: The Complete Series,” but I didn’t know, hope you do a review on it.

I like the cover but I would organize the headlines so they’re surrounding the picture instead of covering it up. But I do really like it. I’m not trying to be mean or anything I’m just helping you to figure out ways to improve the site.
- Tinker

Liked the Just Like Carrie Underwood feature, her style is so cute and it was great to find ways to incorporate her look into my own.
- Effie

OMG! The article on Halloween candy totally made me think twice before eating it all in one week, it is already December and because of that article I still have some candy left over. The Thanksgiving feast article was good I learned about that stuff in school and I thought it was interesting how things have changed from the pilgrims and Indians Thanksgiving.

I like the homemade Halloween costumes article, it gave me a lot of ideas that I didn’t think of before. This year I went as Serena from Gossip Girl and I got the idea from the article.
- Betty

Love the cover, it was really cool how you put Jen and Patricia together. Ghost Whisperers has been one of my favorite shows for three years now and it was cool to read about what is going on this year, and to learn about another great show who knows a may star watching Medium the article made it sound interesting.
- Vera

Urban Legends totally freak me out, the one you told about the guy with the hook is like so scary, I can’t ever watch “I Know What You Did Last Summer” or “Urban Legend” with out getting scared. But it was cool to find out all the different Bloody Mary stories, she is like one of the most known legends and it was fun to find out more about her.
- Kim

I didn’t like this issue very much, the cover was ok, but it would have been cooler if Jennifer and Patricia were facing each other. And I the cover articles were not your best, maybe it is because I don’t watch Ghost Whisper, or Medium, and I already new what I was going to be for Halloween so the costume one didn’t help me. However I did like your Halloween party playlist it really help me find good songs to play during my Halloween party.
